The General Secretary provides theological, strategic and pastoral leadership to the United Reformed Church. John ensures that the General Assembly, through its committees and staff team, is enabled to develop a theologically informed strategic view of the work of its work and that of the wider 91º£½ÇÂÒÂ×. This involves forming and maintaining constructive relationships and networking across the Church.

Jenny Mills

Faith in Action

Jenny leads the Faith in Action Department and integrates its work into the overall work of the Offices of General Assembly, ensuring its priorities and ethos reflect the theology and principles of the wider Church and hence further God’s purposes. Her role it to ensure that the processes the department is responsible for facilitate the effective and safe exercise of the full range of ministries, learning and outreach of the church to meet the needs of local churches and Synods. DGS Faith in Action is a leadership role which contributes to the development of long-term goals and strategies, as determined by the Councils of the Church and ensures their execution through the work of the Faith in Action team.

Nicola Furley-Smith

Deputy General Secretary

Ministries

Nicola provides strategic leadership for the Church’s accredited, commissioned and ordained ministries, supporting the ministry of the whole people of God across the denomination. She promotes ministry in its widest sense, strengthens pathways for formation, training and lifelong learning, and helps ensure that Ministers of the Word and Sacraments, Church Related Community Workers, Elders, Assembly Accredited Lay Preachers and Lay Pioneers are equipped for faithful service.

Working closely with the Head of Ministries Learning and Development, she supports the Ministries Committee and its sub-committees, ensuring ministry is well resourced, responsive to the Church’s current and emerging needs. Alongside this, she works with the Safeguarding Committee to maintain robust safeguarding policy and practice across the Church.

Victoria James

Chief Operating Officer

Admin & Resources

Victoria has overall responsibility for the United Reformed Church House as the Offices of General Assembly, in terms of culture and operations, with responsibility to direct and oversee the strategic and effective operational functioning of the Administration & Resources Department. The Chief Operating Officer is a leadership role which contributes to the development of long-term goals and strategies, as determined by the Councils of the Church and ensure their execution through the work of the Administration & Resources team.

Sam provides confidential personal assistance to the General Secretary, supporting the Business Committee with General Assembly arrangements, and manages diaries for key governance and legal roles.

Faith in Action

The PA provides confidential personal assistance and administrative support to the DGS for Faith in Action; coordinates and provides administrative assistance for Assembly level Committee meetings; supports the Faith in Action team; and works collaboratively within the PA team.

Farrah Carrer

PA to DGS for Ministries

Ministries

Farrah provides confidential personal assistance to the Deputy General Secretary for Ministries, manages committee arrangements and administration and ensures smooth running of the Ministries office; and works collaboratively within the PA team.

Jacqueline Watson

PA to COO and CFO

Admin & Resources

Jacqueline provides confidential personal assistance and administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Finance Officer, coordinates committee meetings, manages minute-taking and paperwork; and works collaboratively within the PA team.

Myles Dunnett

Director of Strategy and Programmes

Strategy and Programmes

Myles leads the work overseeing the establishment of the Church Life Fund and its funding streams, working with the Resources Committee in the implementation of the resolutions sprung from the Church Life Review. Myles also supports the councils of the church on a range of wider strategic work, contributing to the strategic remit of the Business Committee and leading on a number of individual projects.

Ornella Mbula

Strategy and Programmes

Ornella provides administrative and coordination support to the Director of Strategy and Programmes, supporting the implementation of the review-related resolutions and the work of the Church Life Fund committee. Ornella also provides support for the wider work of the Director of Strategy and Programmes.
